Research & Analytics Manager

The Research & Analytics Manager will work both directly with web site data at the individual level and holistically across multiple web sites in order to deliver leading edge research and analysis: media and SEO research and measurement, customer segmentation and profiling, retention analysis and lifetime value analysis (utilizing client provided data), and competitive market research. The manager will also oversee the in-house analytics team, currently charged with the reporting and analysis on the large volume of client data: transaction, media and site-side.
Responsibilities:
· Participates in the design and development of online measurement solutions – assists web site owners in defining measurement strategy, vision, and infrastructure needs to support business objectives and improve client decision making
· Gathers web site business and learning objectives and identifies key measures, approach and methodologies including data sources for obtaining key measures, and reports for measuring success against objectives
· Designs and generates reporting frameworks for data capture and reporting that provide insight as to the performance of clients’ website and/or drive to marketing programs. As necessary, determines and documents data mapping rules for movement of data between required data sources
· Based on measurement reporting and analysis, provides insights and makes recommendations where appropriate to improve business, website and/or marketing program performance and support forecasting efforts - apply various quantitative methods to analyze and interpret information from multiple data sources as needed (database, research and syndicated)
· Gathers and defines test and learn objectives and agendas for web site’s business and marketing programs
· Provides leadership and direction to assigned staff on all aspects of web site deliverables
· Maintains functional expertise in database marketing, integrated channel marketing (including online based channels such as websites, banners, email and search), analytical tools, techniques, and other infrastructure requirements
· Provides SEO team with assistance / guidance as needed for keyword research.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years Internet (agency and/or client) experience – understanding Internet user behavior and activity – especially search behavior a plus.
- Comfortable working with large volumes of data from various sources to be analyzed
- In-depth knowledge of site-side analytics tools such as (but not limited to) Coremetrics, Omniture, Webtrends, comScore, Compete.com, Hitwise, Google Analytics, Urchin, etc.
- Strong knowledge of ad-serving technologies such as Dart DFA, RightMedia, etc.
- Significant search-related experience in working with teams managing SEO, PPC campaigns a plus.
- Experience in working with and/or developing the business requirements for in-house database from which reports and analysis are derived.
- Ability to design and manage primary research studies as well as manage primary and secondary research vendors
- Excellent communicator
- Strong database skills a significant plus
