Part-time SEO Specialist

We are Chicago based startup company seeking an SEO expert with an knowledge of SEO best practices and strategies, who has a passion for metrics and an analytical approach to problem solving.  The successful candidate will be a skilled content strategist, technologist and analyst, combining these talents to leverage our website’s content, architecture and the social web to increase visibility with search engines.  This person will also be a core contributor to website’s social strategy, both in use of social channels and integration of social tools into new and existing products, so the ideal candidate will have deep experience in those areas.


Job Description:


• Build website’s search strategy from scratch by leveraging SEO emerging technologies and best SEO practices.


• Provide SEO thought leadership as a whole and oversee or lead all optimization programs..


• Represent the website to the search community.


• Prioritize SEO development activities, marshal resources, define requirements and validate development.


• Other duties as assigned.


Required Experience:


• 2-4 years related experience preferably in a large ecommerce organization or SEO agency.


• BA/BS degree in a related discipline required.  Advanced degree in Computer Science and/or Marketing desirable


• Experience with web analytics tools including Google Analytics.


• Deep familiarity with Google Webmaster Tools .


• Good working knowledge of front-end code, including HTML, CSS, Javascript, and XML.


• Experience with keyword research and search engine ranking and analysis tools.


• Demonstrated experience optimizing beyond traditional search engines in the areas of real time search, mobile search, video search, image search, etc.


• Skill in leveraging social channels (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, LinkedIn, etc.) user generated content, press releases, etc. to drive qualified traffic.


• Ability to define a product roadmap and translate ideas into business requirements and functional requirements.


• Ability to execute a number of parallel tasks and work with cross-functional teams in USA and India on a day-to-day basis.


• Strong analytical skills & aptitude


• Positive, self-starter attitude and desire to exceed expectations at every opportunity.


• Attention to detail and absolute focus on quality of work.


• Superior communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills; meeting facilitation and strong follow-up.


• Product management experience creating SEO solutions preferred.


• Experience integrating social tools with search, ecommerce or other b2c/b2b online products preferred.


• Demonstrated participation in Search community through papers, journals, speaking events, and/or conference presentations is a plus.
