Leading digital agency Quirk eMarketing is looking for a Java developer to join our established engineering team. Quirk's diverse client list ensures a wide range of projects using modern technologies (HTML5, Spring, jQuery etc) and services (Facebook Graph, Twitter etc) that deliver innovative work along with our experienced strategy, creative and usability teams. Typical examples range from mobile application development to large scale workflow and billing systems, where strong analytical skills are essential. Quirk is strongly rooted in open source technologies with over 10 years on the Java platform. Requirements

• Tertiary qualification - Degree, Diploma or Certificate with Engineering, Computer Science or IT major.


• Minimum of three years commercial Java experience, at least JDK 1.4.


• Minimum of two years J2EE experience.


• Web development experience with an understanding of web usability.


• Database development experience using SQL, JDBC and ORM.


• Application server experience.


• Hibernate experience.


• Webwork or other web framework experience.


• Linux experience (usage, not development).


• Working knowledge of Eclipse.


• Subversion or similar version control.


• Freemarker or similar templating language.


• Javascript and the jQuery library.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work on a wide range of projects using modern programming languages.


• Work on customising certain social media applications.


• Detailed analysis on existing web based projects both internal and external.


• Working along side creative team to produce digital outputs.

Key Skills and Attributes:

• Be able to work overtime and standby when required.


• Ability to work well under pressure.


• Must be able to use initiative and take ownership.


• Able to communicate effectively.


• Must be a team player.
