The Social Media Director will augment, broaden and grow PTC’s use of social media as a communications channel with customers, partners and press. The Social Media Director helps PTC employees integrate their marketing plans and objectives with new social media tools, oversees usage of those tools, and offers expert guidance on best practices and rules of engagement. The Social Media Marketing Director will establish a strategy for participation in various social sites such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and LinkedIn. You will help broaden PTC’s footprint on these sites by bringing new ideas to PTC’s social media program, maintaining relationships with industry bloggers and internal company contacts, and improving PTC’s current marketing material through video, photos, and other multimedia. The successful candidate will be energetic, intelligent, passionate, entrepreneurial, strategic, creative, and a solid business person.
Responsibilities:
• Establish and maintain an effective social media strategy. Stay current with social media trends and incorporate into strategy as appropriate to improve customer/media experience as well as marketing effectivity.
• Consult with cross-functional teams who are seeking ways to integrate social media within their programs; provide guidance, expert advice and a strategy that fits within PTC’s overall strategy.
• Resposnible for formalizing a social media optimization (SMO) strategy and tactics that drive traffic to PTC’s corporate website
• Act as Brand Steward as it relates to social media activities, ensuring that PTC is represented consistently from a visual and messaging perspective
• Review, update, and monitor PTC policy for employee participation in PTC-owned and third party social media sites.
• Roll out strategy companywide and consult various organizations throughout the company as they execute social media tactics in their programs
• Maintain and execute day-to-day blog duties such as copy-editing, publishing, fact-checking, securing approvals, and comment moderation to ensure posts adhere to strict accuracy, messaging and timing requirements.
• Contribute to PTC’s social media program through creation of multimedia content such as video, photos, podcasts, and more..
• Update and maintain PTC’s content on social media sites (YouTube, Facebook, etc.) on a daily basis, to keep content current and accessible.
• Provide metrics, dashboards, and ROI for PTC’s participation in social media sites from the ground up. Instantiate these metrics throughout the company as a new way of measuring program success.
• Stay active in social media events, both virtually and in person.
• Fill in for other social media roles and support as needed.
Preferred Requirements:
• Minimum of 5-8 years Marketing and Public Relations experience, with minimum 3 years directing online community initiatives
• Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, PR, Business or a related field, MBA a plus
• Background in experiential (direct touch) marketing, community development and management is highly desired
• Experience working at a major, high traffic website preferred
• Proven track record in social media including blogging, blogger relations, podcasting or other means of evangelizing on behalf of a large enterprise
• Successful track record in the development and growth of online communities for large enterprises, including ROI using social media channels and technology
• Must have an understanding of the complexities and importance of content tagging, commenting, long tail search, search engine optimization, content popularity
• Superior communication and writing skills
• Stay on top of emerging technologies, including mobile marketing, and developing new programs and strategies accordingly
• Proven leadership skills with ability to lead cross-functional teams in achieving a unified goal
• Extroverted, dynamic personality
