Online Marketing Strategist -- Eugene, OR

The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE®) is seeking a tech-savvy Online Marketing Strategist. This is an excellent opportunity for individual who wants to advance their career and make an impact in the field of education by managing ISTE’s online presence.

The online marketing strategist is responsible for the management and oversight of ISTE’s online presence, which includes but is not limited to ISTE’s website, email, and social media channels. The online marketing manager ensures that ISTE’s online experience is robust and the organization’s online channels meet the organization’s outreach, marketing, communications, leadership, collaboration, and innovation objectives. The online marketing manager ensures that ISTE’s online presence positions the organization as an industry leader in the use of online and social media.
Essential Functions
Plans and assists in the execution of all email marketing campaigns, which includes developing messaging, implementing social media tactics, segmenting, list management, tracking, and reporting.
Acts as organization’s list administrator by being responsible for establishing best practices, implementing a streamlined list management process, maintaining quality control and optimal organization for all email lists. This includes ensuring that our email messaging is CAN-SPAM compliant and offers recipients an optimal user-experience.
Stays abreast of industry trends regarding online opportunities. Keeps current on e-marketing and social media trends/innovations and makes recommendations on new features, applications, and strategies. Establishes effective benchmarks for measuring impact of online and social media programs.
Leads in the analysis of organizational needs and goals and works with the IT department on the design and implementation of internal and external web pages and applications. Consults with users and project teams to determine requirements for web pages and related applications. Proposes and implements improvements.
Responsible for project management, building timelines, managing web content production schedules, and monitoring progress of those areas including project requirements, testing, and deadlines. Communicates timelines and content changes on a regular basis to all stakeholders.
Plans and leads implementation of search engine optimization strategies to maximize ISTE’s exposure. This includes understanding of both SEM and SEO strategies for our website and our online marketing campaigns.
Develops and implements short- and long-term online plans that support proactive electronic marketing programs, including but not limited to web, social media, and email marketing.
Develops search engine marketing strategies for email and web campaigns and projects that are consistent with the ISTE brand and ISTE online style guide.
Advises the IT department on the implementation of tracking requirements, analyzes data, and provides regular reporting of online marketing performance, highlighting relevant trends including open/click-through rates, traffic, and revenue generated from electronic efforts.
Assesses costs and makes recommendations for website enhancements and modifications.
Collaborates closely with IT department on website maintenance, updates, content planning, and aligns marketing strategies with technology strategies by acting as the liaison between the marketing and IT departments.
Acts as liaison with web vendors on website interface and database-related issues.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Supports project management of conference websites. Maintains all aspects of work place organization. Performs other job tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Typically Requires: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, web development, business administration or a related field, and five years experience in project management and planning and implementation of a professional website, or equivalent. Experience in planning, integrating, and executing social media, SEM, and SEO strategies. Ability to work comfortably in a technology-rich environment. Ability to identify new technology to achieve marketing and branding goals, and the ability to gauge how current trends are developing and can be implemented into existing processes. Technology: Requires knowledge of the Internet. Requires strong knowledge of technology and its applications in a hands-on learning environment (e.g., word-processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, web). Requires competency with regard to search engine optimization, Web 2.0 functionality, social media, and social networking sites.
Desirable: Experience working with email marketing software, specifically, HighRoad Solution. Experience working for a nonprofit or the within the field of education is a plus. Marketing: A deep understanding of electronic marketing practices: search engine optimization, usage patterns, emerging technologies, analytics, and ROI analysis. Current and comprehensive knowledge of online marketing strategies and implementation. Knowledge and skills in marketing policies, practices, and techniques including but not limited to branding, positioning, customer relationship and database marketing, integrated marketing, direct marketing, advertising, trade shows, promotions, and web-based marketing techniques and practices, including integrating and using Web 2.0 and social networking tools in the marketing mix.
