SEO Analyst

One of the larger interactive design and development teams in Philly is looking to add a bright SEO Analyst to their team. In addition to some of the key skillsets listed below, this person needs to have a dynamic personality, with the potential and desire to become a true consultant to internal clients. That doesn’t mean somebody who wants to tell everyone what to do. That means somebody with patience and discipline to be able to walk a client through the process of discovering goals and objectives, and applying best practices in SEO to help them reach those points. My own opinion of this role is that it’s one of the best in Philly available, as it offers the opportunity to work on very large, high traffic websites where SEO can make a significant impact on the business. In addition to having the right personality and attitude, we’re looking for qualified candidates who bring the skillsets to the table that would allow them to accomplish the following:
Analytics
- Responsible for running various Web Analytics reports including heavy custom reporting using Omniture Site Catalyst and Test & Target
- Conducts competitive analysis on keyword, link
- Understands and helps manage multivariate testing across a variety of media including websites, mobile and cross-platform applications
- Executes research and conversion reports for the UI group and provides presentations on key learnings and business intelligence to help shape effective optimization strategies and creative direction
- Imports analytical data into MS Excel and provides spreadsheets using pivot tables and macros to create flow charts, conversion funnels and trending
- Leverages Google Insights and Trends to track keyword performance, backlinks and search engine penetration
- Helps to manage the day-to-day relationship with interactive agency and leverages resources to shape research and summarize findings into various presentation decks
- Works with database analytics and ties page level data with session and registration data using MS Excel into one cohesive story
- Researches new vendor relationships and presents management with new opportunities for natural search initiatives
Search Engine Optimization
- Executes optimization strategy alignment amongst web properties.
- Processes work flow and deliverables for SEO business cases, strategy, and tactics.
- Reports on SEO key performance indicators and related success benchmarks.
- Understands and helps execute the SEO hygiene process including meta data, H Class, alt tag, XML Site Map submissions and anchor text recommendations and helps to align web properties through one consistent SEO methodology
- Collaborates with internal and external personnel to ensure SEO benefits from:
- Product development initiatives
- SEO-friendly site architecture
- Editorial and PR efforts
- Executes internal SEO implementation efforts along cross-functional teams.
- Researches, follows and reports on changes in search engines algorithms, ranking criteria and relevancy trending by media vertical
- Helps to set SEO priorities and best practices.
- Quantify and qualify site performance risks/opportunities.
- Work with company’s larger network of sites to optimize cross-linking.
Multivariate Testing/Behavioral Targeting
- Executes MVT and BT business cases and strategies and provides deliverables between UI, product and development to ensure testing is robust and flawless
- Reports to internal and external partners on key performance indicators and offers analytical insight and direction on successful recipes which yield significant test findings and drives revenue conversions to meet operational goals
- Collaborates with business leads such as Marketing to process targeting concepts, messaging and branding initiatives across pre-defined user profile segments
Requirements
- Minimum 2- 4 years of relevant work experience
- 2 years of web consulting, e-commerce, or online marketing experience (in online media, a plus)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Computer Science, or Marketing
- Prior experience in Search Engine Optimization
- Experience working with designers, information architects and IT staff to build and maintain SEO best practices within a web architecture
- Prior experience developing and executing A/B and Multivariate testing, targeting and recommendation engine implementations.
- Experience working with web analytic software, such as Google Analytics, Omniture, HBX, NetTracker, ClickTracks, or WebTrends, a plus
- Experience with audience measurement and competitive intelligence tools, such as HitWise, Nielsen NetView, Comscore or Compete.com
- Technical understanding of internet technologies such as HTML and JavaScript, a plus
- Strong desire to achieve measurable results
- Superior organizational and analytical skills
- Expert level MS Excel skills including pivot tables, macros and flow charts
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate strong working relationships across functional groups and lines of business.
